The Other Art Fair

At the beginning of 2020, I did something most people do at the start of a new year and wrote down the goals I wanted to accomplish. One of the things on my manifestation list (as I like to call it) was to get accepted into group art fairs that showcased truly talented artists. Shows I considered hard to get into, that were reserved for “real” artists.

I specifically wrote down The Other Art Fair on my manifestation list. It’s an art fair that partners with Saatchi Art. Which if you don’t know what Saatchi Art is, it’s the largest gallery and platform for artists in the world. They have incredible artists on their site. It’s one of my go-to spots for discovering artists.

I thought it was a long shot…

But I applied anyway. I submitted my newest work and an artist statement straight from the heart. AND I GOT IN! During the first week of May 2020, I was supposed to be showing my work at The Other Art Fair in Dallas. But as we all know, COVID-19 happened, and plans changed.

Like most businesses, The Other Art Fair pivoted online. And while I won’t be in Dallas showing work in person, you can see my work, along with other amazing artists invited to the Dallas show the first week of May. You can even browse artwork from the art fairs that were supposed to happen in London, Brooklyn, Sydney, among other cities.

I am honored to be in such good company, next to amazing artists. Like, Serena Singh, who paints and draws in with the most vibrant colors. As seen here in “Dancing Woman.”

although I’m disappointed

I couldn’t see art like the above (and below) in person, the show must go on! The art I created for this art fair is similar to my other paintings, in that it’s bright, colorful, and as joyful as I could make it.

I’m pleased to see artists apart of The Other Art Fair whose color palettes are happy and vivid like mine but used in a much different way. Like Ruth Mulvie, who paints these detailed paintings inspired by old photographs, as seen here in “Tiger.”

I encourage you to check out the rest of the work I created for this show here. I’m sure you’ll stumble upon many other fantastic artists that will bring you a little joy in these weird times, like they did for me.
